My name is Rainer Braendlein and I live in Munich/Germany. I have a special interest for Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer is merely known as member of the resistance, but the main purpose of his life was it to reform the German Evangelical Church. Bonhoeffer was a highly gifted theologian. What is his connection with the Epistle to the Romans? Bonhoeffers main book was the book “The Cost of Discipleship”, which explains how to become a christian and what it means to live as a christian. Bonhoeffer has found out that there is no difference between the message of the 4 gospels and the Epistle to the Romans, St. Paul uses just other terms to explain the same object. As Jesus lived on earth he called people personally to be his disciples, today He calls by Holy Baptism through His Church. To follow Jesus today means chiefly to be a member of a lively Christian Church.
